We are absolutely thrilled to share some wonderful news with our community. Today, we are sending a huge, heartfelt welcome to our newly approved new foster carers, Emily and Ross!
Approving new carers is always a moment of celebration at Lighthouse Fostering. It marks the beginning of a life-changing adventure not just for the carers themselves, but for the children and young people they will go on to support. We are delighted to have Emily and Ross join our team, and we cannot wait to see the positive impact they will have.
The Beginning of an Incredible Fostering Journey
Reaching the point of approval is a significant achievement. It comes after months of reflection, training, and assessment—a process designed to ensure that every carer feels ready, confident, and skilled. For Emily and Ross, this approval is the green light to start their fostering journey in earnest.
We know that the decision to foster is not one taken lightly. It requires a huge amount of heart, dedication, and a genuine desire to make a difference. By stepping forward to offer a safe and loving home, Emily and Ross are doing something truly extraordinary. They are opening their lives to help build a brighter future for a child, and we are honoured that they have chosen to do this with us.
More Than Just Approval: A Network of Support
At Lighthouse Fostering, we often say that we don’t just approve carers; we build a support network around them.
Fostering is an incredibly rewarding role, but like any meaningful endeavour, it comes with its unique set of challenges. We believe that no foster carer should ever have to navigate these challenges alone. That is why our commitment to Emily and Ross—and indeed to all our carers—goes far beyond the initial sign-off.
From this day forward, Emily and Ross have a dedicated team in their corner. This includes:
- Guidance from Experienced Social Workers: They will have a Supervising Social Worker who will be their consistent point of contact, offering professional advice and emotional support whenever it is needed.
- 24/7 Availability: Our support doesn't stop at 5 pm. We are here round-the-clock to ensure that our families always have someone to turn to.
- Ongoing Training: The learning doesn't stop at approval. We will continue to provide opportunities for Emily and Ross to develop their skills, helping them to become the best carers they can be.
This level of fostering support is central to our ethos. We want our carers to feel empowered and valued every step of the way.
Joining a Community of Carers
One of the things we are most proud of at Lighthouse Fostering is the sense of family we have cultivated. By joining us, Emily and Ross are not just joining an agency; they are becoming part of a vibrant, supportive community.
Our foster carers are a diverse group of people from all walks of life, united by a shared passion for helping children. They look out for one another, share experiences, and offer a listening ear that only someone who "gets it" can provide. Whether it's at our support groups, training sessions, or social events, we know that Emily and Ross will find a warm welcome waiting for them.
A Bright Future Ahead
As Emily and Ross prepare for their first placement, we want them to know that the whole Lighthouse team is behind them. We look forward to being there for the highs, supporting them through the lows, and celebrating every milestone along the way.
To Emily and Ross: Welcome to the team! We are so excited to have you with us. Here is to the start of a wonderful chapter.
