Lynne Takes Lighthouse Abroad!

At Lighthouse Fostering, we often talk about the strength of our community. This isn't just about the work we do in the office or the support we provide to our foster carers; it is about a shared passion and a genuine sense of belonging that extends far beyond the workplace. We were recently reminded of this in a wonderfully sunny and surprising way, thanks to one of our amazing team members, Lynne!

We are delighted to share a little story that brought a huge smile to all our faces. Our very own Lynne recently swapped the British weather for blue skies and sunshine on a fabulous cruise around the Canary Islands. While she was enjoying a well-deserved break, she made sure to take a little piece of Lighthouse Fostering with her, spreading our message in a truly unique style.

Spreading the Lighthouse Spirit in the Sunshine

From the sunny shores of one island to the stunning volcanic views of another, Lynne proudly showcased her Lighthouse Fostering merchandise during her travels. Armed with her branded gear, she became our unofficial international ambassador, representing the spirit of our fostering community hundreds of miles from home.

Seeing photos of Lynne on her holiday, proudly wearing her Lighthouse merch against the backdrop of the beautiful Canary Islands, was a wonderful moment for our team. It was a simple gesture, but it spoke volumes about her connection to our organisation and the work we do. It is one thing to be dedicated at your desk, but it is another to carry that pride with you on your personal adventures.

The Power of Team Spirit

This fun story highlights something we value deeply at Lighthouse Fostering: our incredible team spirit. We are more than just colleagues; we are a close-knit group of people united by a common goal. We believe that a positive, supportive, and friendly internal culture is essential for the work we do. When our team feels valued and connected, that positivity radiates outwards to the foster carers and children we support.

Lynne’s holiday photos are a perfect example of this. It shows that being part of the Lighthouse Fostering team is more than just a job. It is being part of a community that you are proud to represent, whether you are in the office in Kent or on a cruise ship in the Atlantic. This sense of pride and belonging is what makes our team so strong and effective.

Why a Strong Fostering Community Matters

A strong fostering community starts from within. Our team's cohesion and mutual support create the foundation upon which we build relationships with our foster families. When a prospective carer calls us for the first time, they are speaking to someone who is not only knowledgeable but also genuinely passionate about fostering.

This internal team spirit ensures that:

  • Our support is consistent: We work together seamlessly to provide wrap-around support for our families.
  • We are approachable: A happy and supportive team creates a welcoming atmosphere for carers to ask for help.
  • We innovate: When team members feel valued, they are more likely to share ideas and contribute to making our service even better.
  • We build lasting relationships: We get to know our carers and their families, celebrating their successes and supporting them through challenges.

Lynne taking Lighthouse abroad is a fun, lighthearted reminder of a very serious point: the people behind the organisation are its heart and soul.

Thank You, Lynne!

We want to say a huge thank you to Lynne for sharing her adventure with us and for being such a brilliant ambassador for Lighthouse Fostering, even while on holiday. It has been a joy to see her photos and to share in her travel stories. It has certainly brightened up our office and reminded us all that the Lighthouse Fostering family has a truly global reach!

We love seeing our team members and foster carers representing Lighthouse in such unique and wonderful ways. It reinforces the idea that we are all part of something special.

So, if you happen to see the Lighthouse Fostering logo somewhere unexpected, whether it is in the Canary Islands or closer to home, give us a wave! You are looking at a proud member of a very special community.
